The City of Red Deer has over 13,000 streetlight poles, many of which are at or beyond their life expectancy and need replacement. 

The objective of the Streetlight Infrastructure Replacement Program is to address the aging infrastructure as well as to update the lighting to modern code and electrical to the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 as needed. The program is to carry out the full construction replacement of various streetlighting throughout the City. The scope of work for the streetlighting includes but is not limited to; bases, poles, light fixtures, trenching, directional drilling, wiring and cables, conduit, duct work, backfill and all other components required to replace the existing streetlight infrastructure. This also includes the installation of new power distribution cabinets (PDC) between utility distribution and streetlight electric work.

As a part of the 2026 Construction Season, The City of Red Deer is looking for full construction replacement of existing streetlight infrastructure at the following locations:

1. Warwick Drive 
2. Wiltshire Boulevard
3. Wiltshire Place
4. Welton Crescent
5. Westgate Avenue (North of 43^rd Street)
6. Wong Avenue (North of 43^rd Street)
7. Salisbury Avenue
8. Stewart Street
